Hi to you!
I haven't sat and Typed about what my kids are up to, and what they can do, for a while. I have been wrapped up in a lot of other things, then i realized the other day, that maybe people would like to know how my kids are behaving and growing?! So if you do, read on, If you don't.... Have a good day! :)
Lets start out with Slade. Simply because He's the oldest, and his favorite thing is to "go first". So, He will get first dibs on the "mommy brags a lot" board! Slade has always been stricken with the short "jean" (get it?). He has finally grew out of MOST 3t clothes, and fits into 4t loosely, but never the less, he is finally growing, and I must say, it is very noticeable. Certain things he never could reach before, he does effortlessly. He can now put dishes into the sink without strain, and he can turn the faucets on in the bathrooms without a stool! THIS is BIG news! So, as he is still SHORT, he has grown! He has also learned how to ride a bike without training wheels. Those of you who keep up regularly on my Facebook, already know that... He is also learning discipline and patience, as he is getting toys taken away as a consequence of not following rules. This past week he had gotten ALL his hotwheels taken away for 7 straight days. He also got his powerwheel taken away for 3 days, and his scooter for 3 days as well! But that is a way of learning, that we are very fond of, teaches him responsible and holds him accountable for his actions! And so far, SO GOOD!
Slade is very capable of doing Big boy things. He can now put in a DVD on his own without me being worried he is going to break the machine. He takes care of his dishes after meals. He No longer drinks out of sippy cups (i know he is/was too old for them anyways, but it creates less stains so i just let him, but no longer). Only cups and juice bottles, and I have noticed a sense of "wow, i really am a big boy". This may be TMI, but he no longer needs "assistance" when going to the bathroom! YES to no more wiping his butt!! ha! He dials the phone, he pours juices, man, he is a real 4 year old! It is AMAZING!
I couldn't be prouder of him. He has been doing his "chopsticks" and he has been doing sooo good with his coordination and skills. He blossoms when he is there, and his confidence level sky rockets. It never fails, we leave there, and we are all happy because of what he accomplished. Amazing. He's one amazing child!
Now on to the little devil herself.....Kendal aka SIS. Her name should have been just sis..... because EVERYONE calls her that. It is adorable and it always brings a smile to my face. She is a "Sissy" by name, but holy cow, not by nature! She is rougher and tougher than a boy, but she is frillier than frilly! She is definitely a Tom boy! She picks up worms and wrestles hard with Brian one minute, then the next minute she is walking around with a tutu and gem necklace on, playing at her kitchen. She is the best of both worlds!!
Keni has moved into a toddler bed, and she does amazing with it! She just walks up the stairs for "night night" and crawls right into bed. She also has enough hair to make pig tails...Just little ones, but atleast they are "there!". She has acknowledged when she has to go "potty", so we are close to starting her with a potty seat! She is growing day by day! She too is drinking out of cups at meals, but i still maker her sip out of a sippy when she is walking around. Her vocabulary is growing tremendously! She can count to 3, she tries to sing the abc's with us!! She can say, Love you, Nannie, Papa, Momma, Bubby, daddy, Yes, Please, Thank you, Night night, Hi, Bye bye, NO!!, Poop, Pee pee, Bath, Eat, Cup, Milk, Juice, Hot-Hot, Truck, Car, Shoes, dress, bed, baby, pretty, Lola, Doggie, Fishy, Chair, ride, play... I know there's more but its hard to remember! and of course she pronounces them properly...HAHA! She is wearing slades old shoes, so a size 7/8!! And she outgrew 3t shirts so she is wearing most of slades shirts until i can buy her new clothes! Its insane how fast they grow, and you would think i would be used to it my now, but I am not. Why can't they just stay little? FOREVER!
Brian is doing well at work, he starts working nights this week..(hes been working mids since he's been home but he is home by 8pm). so its going to throw us off a bit. He will be here all day, then not at night, which, is good, because he will be here for when the kids are awake. Slades just bummed because daddy cant make it to his chopsticks. But things like that happen, but its hard to make a 4 year old understand something like that. Now we arent sure about Date nights because he only gets the kids full force on the weekends, so its hard to just take a saturday to do a date ya know?! so, thats something we are going to figure out. but we arent in DIRE need, there is other things that are more important. NOT saying that taking time together isnt important, but there are other things that require our attention a little more than a date night. We will get there, sometime.
We have been really enjoying these warm weekends we have been having! Sure doesnt feel like its winter! we went fishing this last weekend, and it was amazing! we didnt catch anything, but it was so peaceful and relaxing. it was worth it. We also went to NC to visit grave digger and we rode the knotts island ferry over there, that was amazing too! Its just been a fun adventure and we are enjoying every minute of being a family again. You never know how long you have so you have to use your time wisely!
Thats all for now, I hope you enjoyed!
Love to you all!

And a New Year has Begun!
Hi Everyone! HAPPY NEW YEAR! How the Heck are ya?!
We are doing really well!! And Since my last post, we have got alot accomplished, Done alot but nothing at all at the same time, and Re-Bonded our family Unit! Lets see, All the holiday happenings, well, happened. And spending it as a FAMILY of FOUR, was the most amazing Gift EVER! NOTHING could have topped having Bri home......Not even the Nikon D5100 SLR camera with the Lens pack, that santa somehow forgot to bring me... He must have left it in the Sleigh! (I am totally joking, im not that Greedy, I would Have settled for the D3100... AGAIN im just kidding!) But those of you who really know me, and my humor, know that its just a "kid" and i really didnt expect to lay down that much cash for a gift. I will get one, in due time. Slade says I should start a nook jar for eating my vegetables, and save for a camera, and Daddy should start a nook jar and save for a mustang... Hm... Maybe he's on to something! Ha.
Back to talking about the Holiday Happenings! We had a really great and relaxing time building up to christmas Eve! Santa built the gifts a couple days prior to Arriving, so that christmas eve, we could relax and enjoy the thought of "santa" coming while the kids were fast asleep!
Christmas eve was spent with some amazing friends, and TONS of food. It was a really great time. I cooked and baked all day, while daddy spent time with the kids. We had an array of foods which i wish i could eat every day, all day, like that, but i cant because i wouldnt be able to fit out of my front door. so that is why indulging every once in a while is, well, amazing! Then once the evening came to a hault, and sissy was fast asleep, we started the christmas routine, of getting ready for SANTA! We laid out cookies that sladen kindly picked for santa... Santa was supposed to get chocolate milk, but someone forgot to buy it, so slade reluctantly left him White milk. We then put out celery sticks for the reindeer, and santas key hung outside our sliding glass door. Since we dont have a fireplace, santa needs a way of getting in... and a key.... well..... it does the trick! After all was set up and ready to go, daddy and slade tracked santa on Norad, and To bed he went.
Christmas Morning was so calm and mild. Slade awoke and went strait to the TV room, where he cuddled and watched TV. Once sissy woke up he was ready to head downstairs. His voice, his smile, and his "OH MY GOSH!" was way more exciting than i could have ever thought. Sis was just as excited, as she fed off of his energy. They dug into their stockings as i was brewing coffee and prepping the quiche. Once it came time to open gifts, they slowly and calmly opened them one by one. Enjoying and playing with each toy at a time. It was so wonderful, not at all what i expected. I expected them to RIP into the gifts, throwing them aside while ripping into the next one, but that is not how it happened, and i was grateful! It made christmas morning so so so ENJOYABLE! Once it was time to open the big gifts, thats when it was SO EXCITING! sis opened her kitchen and screeched with excitement, immediately putting her food and pans on the stove. Then it was slades turn to rip off the paper on his big gift.... Once he seen what was under it, it only took a split second for them both to jump in, buckle up, and slade began to put the power wheels into drive and reverse, drive and reverse. He was manipulating and maneuvering that car like i couldnt believe! He was trying to fit it out the sliding glass door without knocking the tree over! haha. He did a great job! Santas smile was amazing to see!
The rest of the week and leading up to New years was spent just as a family, and then brian starting to go back to work, so we were re-learning our routine and getting things "in line". Then for new years, we went to our friends house for a nice meal and we stayed out until a whopping, 10 o'clock at night! WHOOOP WHOOOP!
So that was what our holiday was like. It was fun and relaxing!
I know alot of you are thinking "what is it like to have brian home, how did the kids adapt"..... So here is the scoop in that department. It has been a very SMOOTH transition for the kids. The kids act like he never left. Daddy has to do everything with them, and for them. Mommy is kicked out of bath time, daddy puts them to bed, JUST like before he left. He is a tremendous father, and the kids FEEL his Love, as he does theirs. The routine is down pat, Brian knows the ropes again, and its really cool to just watch him with them. I had missed the simplest things about having him home. And it brings a smile to my face to watch the 3 of them play.
The transition of Brian being home for me, was a bit rocky for about a week or 2. Just as he was getting ready to go back to work, it felt like the day to day was getting easier. I am not sure why it happens, but i guess its more common than we would think, but there definitely IS an awkward stage of having them come home. And for those who say that there isnt, i think are fibbing. Im sorry, But i do. When people told me about this "awkward stage" i totally disreguarded what they were saying...thinking Yeah right, it will be PERFECT. No matter how much you kept in tough, No matter how many skype dates, and phone dates, and letters, emails, ALL OFF THAT, doesnt equal them being HOME. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE having him home. I LOVE and ADORE him with every fiber of my being, But going 7 months with just me running the show, you get accustomed to things the way YOU want them. YOU get the remote at night when its your "quiet time". YOU are ALONE in the kitchen without someone behind you. YOU run the show 100 percent of the time, and fitting that person back in, isnt the easiest thing as I imagined or would have liked it to have been. Is it worked out now? YES, but it took some time. I think the worst thing in the world, was hearing brian say, that he didnt feel needed anymore. That hurt my heart. Here I am, proud as can be to show him what i can do so independently, not knowing, that it made him feel that way. SO It took alot of reminding myself, that this is what it feels like to be a "pair". This is what it feels like to share responsibility again, and since we have gotten the hang of it again, it feels pretty damn phenomenal. We are working as a team, better than before. I grew so much while he was gone, and My struggle was losing my independence and regaining that "dependency" upon him again. But i think finding that happy medium where he is still needed, but i can run the show if need be, is just where we both want it to be.
While my parents were here, brian and I went to the commissary alone (about 2 days after he got home), for some last minute grocery items, and I was driving. I was so used to just grabbing the keys and hopping in the drivers seat that i never even thought to ask if he wanted to drive! Then we get there, and I found a parking spot i wanted, and I backed into the spot, flawlessly, like an ol' pro! i put the truck in park, shut it off and as I go to grab my purse, i looked over at him, and he was smiling shaking his head. So i asked him, "what?"... He had never seen me back into a spot before..and He was dumbfounded, but proud.. That made me laugh. All i do is back into parking spots now. Because for one simple reason, its easy to get out. and when you are fussing with groceries and 2 kids alone, in a busy parking lot, the last thing i want to do is try to maneuver out of my parking spot, so i just back in, to pull out! It was such second nature to me, it never occurred to me, that this was something i gained while he was gone. haha, stupid story i know, but its the little things that you gain and grow from about your self that you are proudest of, and this is one of them.
So there you have it. There was our holiday season, and how we are doing fitting daddy in! I will try to start making this a weekly thing again, but i was a tad pre-occupied! I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday season!!
